Rich is a serial entrepreneur. His successes include a building a national nightclub brand, a talent agency, and online car buying business and a network of contacts in the leisure and hospitality world. If you need to open a door for your business Rich either has a key to it or know who does.
Fun Fact: Rich doesn’t like to talk about it but as part of his time in the talent agency world, he launched the careers of Take That, Westlife and one of life’s quiet achievers, The Prodigy.
James’ journey to the entrepreneurial world took a different path. While practising corporate law in the UK, New Zealand and Australia for 15 years, it was clear the more time he spent on secondment (Unilever/McDonald’s/Duetsche Bank) the more he loved being in the business rather than advising the businesses.
Fun Fact: Having found his sporting feet in representing Kent, Lancashire and England Unis in his earlier years, James’ efforts at riding horses in Lord of The Rings country when living in New Zealand were somewhat less successful….
Helping others, helps us – not just in business
James and Rich both have a solid history of voluntary and mentoring work. Rich is an active volunteer with the Red Cross and James has worked with mentoring young people who are trying to find a path to employment and achievement from challenging backgrounds.
During Covid, Rich helped where the rules allowed and has been on the team providing vaccinations. James worked with the displaced homeless communities in Bristol who were placed in temporary accommodation in empty hotels.
Both Rich and James are studying for a degree in counselling as well as running Oc2pus. One of the reasons is a commitment to living life of purpose, both professionally and personally. It is also part of what contributes to the Vision Oc2pus has set.
